  Living in the Desert




Recent rains have helped the extreme fire danger conditions in Arizona.
 However,  many of the public lands remain closed.  Here are links for information about
closures and current conditions across Arizona and the U.S..

The Arizona Trail is a continuous, 800+ mile diverse and scenic trail across Arizona from Mexico to Utah. It links deserts, mountains, canyons, communities and people. Currently 95% of the trail is complete.  The Trail crosses in areas surrounding Coyote Creek within the Rincon Valley and the Rincon Mountains

On March 30, 2009 President Obama signed the Omnibus Public Lands Bill passed last week by Congress. The bill includes the prestigious National Scenic Trail designation for the 817 mile Arizona Trail.

Academy Village is an adult retirement community not far from Coyote Creek, Academy Village offers the residents of Coyote Creek participation, for a nominal fee,  in many of their scheduled activities. 

The Academy HOA offers many regular fitness classes, from aerobics, water aerobics, yoga, and Tai Chi, to many other classes where you can learn various art techniques, or investing, wine tastings, and even supper in their dining room certain nights of the week.   For more information about the activities Coyote Creek residents may participate in contact

Besides the cave that stays a cool 70 degrees, there are many interesting activities to participate in at Colossal Cave Mountain Park.   There are trail rides, tours, candlelight tours, education series, a butterfly garden, a library and a gift shop.
